Subaru Introduces New Special Editions of Forester and Outback SUVs
Subaru has announced the release of two special edition models of its popular Forester and Outback crossovers. These limited-volume models are based on the standard versions of each vehicle but come with a range of additional features and upgrades. The vehicles are expected to hit Australian showrooms in mid-May, but Subaru has not revealed precisely how many will be available.
The Forester 2.5i Luxury AWD Special Edition is priced at $39,690 (plus destination fee) before on-road costs, which is only $1,000 more than the base 2.5i AWD model. This vehicle comes with enhancements from the flagship 2.5i-S and Hybrid S variants, including black leather upholstery, upgraded dash panel accents, upgraded center console trim, and upgraded door panel trim. The Forester 2.5i Luxury AWD Special Edition has the same equipment as the base 2.5i, which includes automatic, active cornering LED headlights, LED front fog lights, rain-sensing wipers, a 6.3-inch multi-function display, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, DAB+ digital radio, a six-speaker sound system, dual-zone climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter.
Like most Foresters, this vehicle has a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine producing 136kW of power and 239Nm of torque, mated with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and all-wheel drive. The pricing for the 2024 Forester range remains unchanged. The vehicle is available in four exterior finishes: Crystal White Pearl, Ice Silver Metallic, Horizon Blue Pearl, and Magnetic Grey Metallic.
The Outback AWD Premium Special Edition, on the other hand, is priced at $47,190 (plus destination fee) before on-road costs, which is $3,500 more than the base model. This vehicle adds features from the more expensive Sport and Touring models, such as black Nappa leather-accented seat trim, heated front seats, heated outboard rear seats, satellite navigation, and a hands-free power tailgate. The Outback AWD Premium Special Edition comes with all the features found in the base Outback AWD, including an 11.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB+ digital radio, a 4.2-inch instrument cluster screen, dual-zone climate control, a six-speaker sound system, and rain-sensing wipers.Â
This vehicle uses the entry-level Outback powertrain, which is a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 138kW and 245Nm, mated with a CVT and all-wheel drive. The pricing for the 2024 Outback range remains unchanged. The Outback AWD Premium Special Edition is available in all exterior colors except for Brilliant Bronze Metallic.
