The next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is set to arrive with several new updates. As one of Subaru’s most popular SUVs, the Crosstrek will receive several changes to improve its capability and versatility. While Subaru has been focused on its all-electric Solterra, it has made sure not to neglect its combustion engine lineup. Vehicles like the Crosstrek remain a priority, and others, like the Subaru Impreza and Outback, have also received new upgrades. The 2024 Crosstrek will receive two new trims, the option for front-wheel drive, and improved fuel efficiency. Although some of these changes may seem surprising, we’ll take a closer and see what consumers can expect from the next-generation Crosstrek.

2024 Subaru Crosstrek Receives New Updates

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek will receive several new changes. One of these changes is prioritized for the Japanese version of the compact SUV, which is significant. Subaru has long been known for its unique all-wheel drive system, but with the next-generation Crosstrek, the Japanese automaker will offer the compact SUV with a front-wheel drive system. Subaru’s goal here is to appeal to a broader audience of Japanese consumers by offering them a more efficient Crosstrek. The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek will see increased fuel efficiency when equipped with front-wheel drive. This will significantly benefit those drivers who mainly use the Crosstrek as a daily commuter. It’s still unclear if this front-wheel-drive Crosstrek will make its way to the United States, but it’s interesting to see Subaru looking for ways to improve efficiency.

In addition to front-wheel drive, the 2024 Crosstrek will receive two new trims: Touring and Limited. Owners will have the option of either all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive with both trims. Another update Subaru made to the compact SUV is reducing its ground clearance. The Crosstrek will now have 7.9 inches of ground clearance compared to its previous 8.7 inches. By making this reduction, the Crosstrek will receive even greater fuel efficiency. Although some drivers may see this as an unnecessary sacrifice, Subaru has improved the Crosstrek’s 2.5L engine by giving it more power. This increased capability should help enhance the Crosstrek’s off-road capabilities.

The last change to the 2024 Crosstrek is the removal of its manual transmission. The Touring and Limited trims will only feature Subaru’s continuously variable automatic transmission. The removal is because it interferes with Subaru’s advanced EyeSight safety system. One of Subaru’s goals is to have zero fatal accidents by 2030. To accomplish this, every option must be considered. Subaru vehicles equipped with a manual gearbox do not have the option for the Eyesight system, and as such, they reduce the overall safety afforded to other owners. While some of these changes may seem drastic, they demonstrate Subaru’s dedication to offering competent and versatile vehicles.
