Along with the front-wheel drive, Subaru will also introduce a new trim for the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek. Called the Touring, this trim will feature a continuously variable automatic transmission. The new trim will also be available with all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive. Subaru has not released the starting price for the Touring trim, but it will likely slot near the Limited trim. The 2024 Crosstrek is also expected to see reduced ground clearance. Coming down from 8.7 to 7.9 inches will improve fuel efficiency and increase the mileage of the compact SUV.
Another update for the next-generation Crosstrek is an improvement to the 2.5L engine. The compact SUV currently sees 182 horsepower, but Subaru is expected to increase its performance. This increase will help improve the Crosstrek’s capability and versatility. Speaking of versatility, one other change that may upset some consumers is the manual transmission removal. According to Subarbu, the manual transmission interferes with the EyeSight safety system. This means vehicles equipped with a manual gearbox cannot take full advantage of the EyeSight suite. To reduce fatal accidents to zero by 2030, Subaru is considering every option to improve safety. Some may not agree with all the changes, but the next-generation Crosstrek looks to offer even greater performance and efficiency.
